About
Introduction:
• Accurex Viral Transport Medium Kit is a specialy designed transport system to collect and transport viruses in an active form to the laboratory for isciation. It is designed to maintain the viability and the virulence of the viral sample.
Specification
• Accurex Viral Transport Medium is made of Hanks Balanced Selt
Solution and contains a protective protein, antibiotics to control microbial and fungal contamination and buffers to control the pH.
•The medium also contains a cryoprotectant which helos in preserving the virases if specimens an frozen for prolonged storage.
The flocked polyester swab (nasopharyngeal swab has a short perpendicular ultra-fecile plastic shaft that is designed for better patient comfort. This plastic shalt is attached with soft polyester strands that results in etficient collection and release of particulate matter. It vields significantly more sample which helos in maximtzing the sensitivity of serclogical and molecular detection assays.

– Isolation of viruses wil largely depend on proper specimen collection, timing of sample collection and processing of samples.
•Do not use the product it
a. there is change in the color of the medium,
b. there is evidence of leskage,
c. there are other signs of deterioration.
•It is recommended to refer to standand procedures and published protocols for sample colection and processing.
Direction for Use
Procedure:
•Ask the patient to blow their nose to clear nasal passage of excessive mucus. Have the person dispose off the used tissue in a waste receptacle.
•Tilt the patient’s head back 70 degrees. It may be helpful to have the patient rest their head against a wal or hard surface.
Insert swab into the nostril. (Swab should reach depth equal to the distance from nostril to auter opening of the car). Leave in place for
5-10 seconds to absorb secretions.
•slowly remove swab while rotating
•Place the tip of swab into sterile viral transpart media tube and snap/out off the apolicator stick. Ensure lid is tightly closed.
• Place specimen container in a biohazard transcort bag.

Storage & Handling:
The Accurex VTM reagent tube is ready-to-use.
•The VTM reagent kit should be stored at 20 – 25° C and is stable till the expiry date indicated on the label.
• Avoid from aver heat, improper storage will result in a loss of antimicrobial activity.
•Contamination should be strictly avoided.
